The Flag of Aceh Sultanate, Malaysia, is a historical flag that represents the rule of the Aceh Sultanate during its colonial era with the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) and later, British Malaya (now Malaysia). The flag consists of a white field with a black shield at the center. The shield has a yellow crescent moon and five-pointed star, symbolizing Islam, in the upper left corner. In the lower right corner, there is an emblem that resembles a stylized version of the letter ‘A’ (the first letter of ‘Aceh’).The flag was used during the Dutch colonial period from 1874 to 1903 and then under British rule until 1959 when Aceh officially merged with Malaysia. Today, while no longer an official flag, it holds cultural significance for the people of Aceh in Malaysia and is often displayed during traditional events and celebrations.
