The Flag of Alghero, Italy, is a bicolor flag consisting of four horizontal stripes arranged in the pattern of red, white, blue, and yellow. It represents the city of Alghero, located on the northwestern coast of the island of Sardinia. The flag’s design symbolizes the historical connection between Alghero and Catalonia, Spain, as it shares similarities with the Catalan flag. This flag is not an official national or regional flag in Italy but is widely used by locals to express their unique cultural identity within Italy. The exact origins of the Flag of Alghero are unclear, but it has been in use since at least the 16th century, reflecting the city’s longstanding Catalan influences and traditions.
