Indian Lore (Boy Scout Merit Badge) The Indian Lore merit badge is a rank achievement within the Boy Scouts of America’s program. This badge focuses on the study and appreciation of Native American cultures, traditions, and histories. The aim is to foster understanding and respect for these diverse societies that have contributed significantly to American history. Topics covered may include tribal histories, legends, art, music, and social customs, as well as conservation principles tied to their ancestral lands. Scouts typically demonstrate knowledge through discussions, presentations, and projects, under the guidance of a trained merit badge counselor. The Indian Lore merit badge serves to promote cross-cultural awareness and appreciation among Boy Scout members.
