Journalism (Boy Scout Merit Badge) The “Journalism” merit badge is a part of the Boy Scouts of America’s merit badge program, which allows Scouts to learn new skills and gain knowledge in various fields. To earn this merit badge, a Scout must demonstrate an understanding of journalism principles by planning, reporting, writing, editing, and distributing a news story or feature article. This includes learning about different types of news media, ethical journalism practices, interview techniques, and the role of journalists in society. The goal is to foster an appreciation for the importance of accurate information and responsible journalism within the Scouting community.
